Writer and director Helyn Latimer, was trained at the Birmingham School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art, and also with the Sherman Arena Company (Post Graduate Theatre Studies course) during the eighties. She has over eighteen years of experience of working as an actress in theatre and television, and also as a musician and puppeteer with various Theatre-in-Education companies. She established Splott Puppet Theatre in 1998 (whilst living in an area of Cardiff called “Splott” at the time!) and this company went on to build up an excellent reputation with schools throughout Wales offering productions through the medium of both Welsh and English. Later, having undertaken teacher training experience at primary level, Helyn then went on to establish Puppet Theatre Wales, a bilingual touring company, with its base in the Vale of Glamorgan, dedicated to educational productions for nursery and primary age groups throughout Wales. |
